I just feel silly...

when I try to take a self portrait. I'm usually executing it alone, so there's no one there to make me laugh or even smile. I really feel like a nerd. So, I always look mad in my self portraits. Whatever.

Anyway, I think I'm getting better at them. The first time I tried, they were just a tad soft because it's hard to get sharp focus on yourself. :-) And, I had glasses glare...something else that's difficult to avoid when you're setting it up by yourself. Then, the second time I got pretty decent focus, but I just had to leave my glasses out of it. (That picture is in my profile.) This time, though, I got decent focus AND no glasses glare! Woohoo! It's the little things that make me happy...

So, here I am! I did use Peta's color pop on it to liven it up a bit since my expression certainly isn't lively! :-)

Love this photo! Can't believe you did it yourself. You're right--self ports. are not easy. Great job!

Great job with the self portrait. Really like how you tilted your head. TFS and introducing yourself. :-)

I know what you mean about looking mad cause you're by yourself...I had the same problem with mine.

Amy, I know I say this FAR too often, but you are soooo stinkin' gorgeous! I love this photo of you, it has a "what is she thinking" quality to it. Though I know you were probably thinking "I hate doing self portraits, I hate doing self portraits." ;D

Beautiful, and the color is perfect!

Thank you, everyone...ya'll are very encouraging!

Stacy - I put my camera on a tripod, and put it at eye level of my oldest daughter, who just happens to be about my height when I'm on my knees. Anyway, then I had her stand on a mark on the ground, focused on her, had her move, then pressed the shutter (which was on self timer.) I'm getting more & more technical with each go at these self portraits! :-) Ha!

Anyway, I shot it with my 85mm f/1.8, and my settings were:

ISO 800
f/3.2
SS 125
